What is a group of hyenas called?

A group of hyenas is called a clan. The clan is led by a dominant female known as the matriarch who is responsible for asserting dominance over the other members of the clan. Hyenas are highly social animals and live in groups that can range in size from just a few individuals to more than 80 members. Within the clan, hyenas form complex social hierarchies and communicate with one another using a range of vocalizations, body language, and scent marking. They are known for their distinctive laughing call, which can be heard up to three miles away and is used for communication and to signal danger to other members of the clan.
